Food #4: Footprints- If You Think God Has Abandoned You

"I Am Always With You"

One night a man had a dream: he dreamed he was walking along the beach with God.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him and the other belonging to God.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, the man looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed many times on his life's path, there was only one set of footprints.

He noticed that there was only one set of footprints at the very saddest and lowest times of his life. This really bothered the man and so he questioned God about it.

The man said "God, you said that once I decided to follow you, that you would walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that at the most troublesome times of my life, there is only one set of footprints. I do not understand WHY, when I needed you most, you decided to leave me".

God replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".

"Moving Farther Down the Shore..."

"One night I had a wondrous dream, And footprints on the shore were seen, The footprints of my precious Lord, Yet mine were not along the sward.

But then a strange print did appear, I asked the Lord, "What have we here? This print is large and round and neat, But Lord, it's just too big for feet."

"My child," He said in somber tone, "For miles I carried you alone. I challenged you to seek My face, Take up your cross and walk in grace.

You disobeyed, you would not grow. You would not stand against the flow. Your neck was stiff, your ears were shut, So there I dropped you on your butt;

Because in life there comes a place, That each and every one must face. When you must rise and take a stand, Or leave your butt-print in the sand."
