FAQ: How can my past lives effect me now? Most people can remember at least some painful experiences in their lives. Most would agree that if the pain is not acknowledged, processed, and released, then they will continue to live with it until it is healed. That is the reason why there are so many helping and healing professions in the world today - such psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors, etc. These professions exist to help people through their pain. Before these professions existed, people suffered pain and often had no outlet for healing it. Just as people carry the pain they suffered earlier in their current life to their later years, people carry their pain with them from one life to another. There may be someone you know who is or has experienced pains or fears or emotions or beliefs that do not "make sense" based upon their current life situation. Maybe you have had those experiences yourself. Often these physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual problems originate in the person's past lives. [Example]

There were a number of times they would tetter at the top of the stairs and struggle to keep themself from just falling down them. Looking into a past life, this client had been a General fighting a war for a cause he had long ceased to believe in. He had been wounded and was being sent home. The General had decided not to return to the battlefield. He had made the decision that if the war lasted longer than it took to heal his wounds, he would "fall down the stairs". He would break his legs, avoid the war, and "everything would be all right". However, the General died of his wounds and never carried out that strategy. Yet, his passing was so sudden and painful that he carried this death trauma and that strange thought along with him into the next life!
