Exercise: "33 Things I Love About Me": Going for Your Dreams! Summary: Appreciating Yourself to Claim Your Own Power For Quick Access to This Exercise: To get to the parts of this exercise you are most interested in viewing, click on the link below to go there. For best results, read through the entire exercise at least once. Background on This Exercise Background: Marianne Williamson said it all: "our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond measure." It is that fear of claiming our own power which often keeps us from living the life we want to live. Behind that fear are the messages we have been programmed with as in "I am not good enough" or "If only I was this, I could have that or I could do that or I could be that..." Yet the truth is in the immortal words of Stuart Smilley "I am good enough. I am smart enough. And people like me." Often people like us better and think more of us than we like ourselves or think well about ourselves. Goal: The goal is to turn that "stinkin' thinkin'" around. For as you believe you are, so shall you do. Similarly, as you believe that you are not, so you cannot do. Remember what Henry Ford said "If you think you are right, then you are. If you think you are wrong, then you are. Either way you are still right." Often in life, the difference between those who live their dream and those who spend their lives dreaming comes down to this. Those who lived their dreams believed that is was possible and went for it. While those who dreamed their life away, never got a chance because they never took one. All you need is a blank piece of paper, a pen or pencil, and a quiet place and time to do this exercise. 1> Take some deep, refreshing
breaths until you are totally comfortable and relaxed in
whatever position you have chosen (it should take you no
more than 3 minutes to get comfortable). 2> Close your eyes and ask the angels who love, guide, and protect you to come over and sit on your shoulder as you do this exercise. Ask them to help you to make a list of "33 Reasons Why I Deserve to Have My Dreams." 3> Then open your eyes and... begin to write. Write whatever comes. Do not judge or censor your words, just let them flow. If, at first, these things seem to you to be "negative", turn it around as is "a smile is just a frown upside down". For example, one of my items would be that "I am a bad ass." That is a pretty negative statement but "turning it around" to the positive side it means "that I am strong, capable, confident... I get things done. I am confident and capable. I make things happen!" 4> Keep on writing until you have 33 things on your list that you are truly proud of about yourself. They should all make you say at once "Yes, this is ME!" 5> If your unconscious mind is putting up a fight, ask your angels to work with it. Have them send your unconscious powerful images of how safe, protected, and joyful you will be once you have achieved your dreams. This should soothe your unconscious mind and overcome any resistance to this exercise. 6> Once you are finished, recreate your list in large letters. Post it where you cannot help but see it every day. Your bedroom is a good place so you can see it as soon as you wake up and so that you can review it briefly right before you go to sleep. Example: The best way to understand how this exercise works is to see an actual example. It is from a client who wants to be a holistic healer. "Dear Ellen, I know that you wanted '33 reasons why someone should come to me for healing' but it sounds more like '33 reasons why I should like myself'. Here it is: 1. I'm loving. I know that I will be great at this work. I can't imagine anything more wonderful than communicating with the spirit world... to have knowledge of the past, present, and future. I want this gift to help myself, family, friends, strangers, everyone! I want to do something positive and important to make this world a better place! So many religions teach... That we live, we die, we spend eternity in Heaven or in Hell. That we live once and only once. I want to help spread the word that we've lived before and we'll live again. We reincarnate to grow spiritually: we keep coming back until we get it right. We have chosen our life's blueprint. God is inside everyone (good and bad) - not floating around in the clouds a million miles away from us. He can never be separate from us. I want to help enlighten others... That there is no hell... That we are here to grow spiritually so that we can become one with God (the universe). I want people to know that everyone from 'Hitler' to 'Mother Theresa' ends up in the same place after they die. Some just need more work than others. I will be successful in spreading this knowledge. I'm easy to talk to, people love to talk to me, and everyone knows I'm not a 'nut job'." Based on the above, I think you would be fortunate to go to this individual for healing if want to know why just see the above list! Credits: by Ellen Mogensen and Jean Kelly |
