Christianity - Protestantism - Lutheran Prayers The Beauty of This Path:
For me, the beauty of the Lutheran path is that it focuses on "I
AM" (you are loved because God has created you) instead of "TO DO"
(you must do something to get love) or "TO BE" (you must be/act a
certain way to get love). "For we hold that a man is justified by
faith apart from the works of law" (Romans 3:28) is the biblical
passage that inspired Luther to focus on this essential truth of
the universe. Connecting to this truth keeps one focused on living
in the moment instead of being mired in past sins. Prayer Index: Christianity - Protestantism - Lutheran Prayers
Prayer for Peace O God, from whom come all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works, give to me, your servant, that peace which the world cannot give, that my heart may be set to obey your commandments and that I, being defended from the fear of my enemies, may live in peace and quietness; through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen. Dear heavenly Father, you intend my body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. May it be your gracious will that I enjoy your healing power, that I may seek you, serve you, enjoy you and depend on you, through the physical life you have given me and shared with me, in Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen. Morning Prayer (Martin Luther) I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen. Evening Prayer (Martin Luther) I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
