FAQ: Do I have to know any history to understand my past lives?

One of the tragedies of the modern educational system is that it has sucked all the joy right out of the study of history. The focus on rote memorization of dates and events completely demotivates students from thinking that history could be at all interesting. Yet dress history up in another way and people cannot get enough.

Take the popular television series: Star Trek: Classic, NextGen, DS9, & Voyager.

• What are Klingons but a study of the rituals of ancient warlike Sparta?
• What are Vulcans but Athenians in their relentless pursuit of logic?
• What are Cardassians but Romans in their emphasis on family and the state?

What makes history interesting is what people did and why, not when and where. For me, learning more about the "real" history is fascinating and is one of the strongest motivations for me to do this work (see "Solved Past Life Mysteries").
