Rules #22c: Living the Way of
Dharma by Empowered Living
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am
a free human being with an independent will." (Charlotte Brontė,
"Jane Eyre")
From Karma to Dharma...
Karma
is designed to bring us all onto the way of
Dharma, the path of CoWorkership with God. The
"pain and suffering"
of karma are designed to teach us how to live
within the laws of karma. Learning to live a
karma free life
ingrains in us a deep and abiding respect for
the law so that we always stay within it's bounds. This creates
empowered living.
For only by staying inside it's bounds can
we become free of it. Once we can handle this freedom responsibly,
do we get
off the road of karma
and move onto the path of Dharma.
The way of Dharma is the way of CoWorkership
with God in loving service to and respect for all life by
empowered living.
"He who believes in leaving nothing to Chance,
will do few things badly but will do very few things!" (Halifax)
If you want to live an empowered life, then you
will have to engage in empowered believing! Part of "Empowered Living"
(EL) is practicing empowered believing. Your thoughts are guided and
shaped by your beliefs. Here is how you
can practice empowered believing:
*
Never Quit on Your Deepest Dreams:
The only way you can fail at anything you deeply
desire is to quit. As the old saying goes,
"winners never quit and quitters never win!"
Often, when you are ready to quit, you are
closer than you think to manifesting your dreams. When you think
about quitting, remember this Chinese proverb:
"The temptation to quit is the greatest just
before you are about to succeed."
Believe in yourself and you will attain
empowered living!
*
Try, Try Again:
"Failure is the opportunity to start over again
more intelligently" (Henry Ford). Most
things do not work the first time they are attempted. Just because what
you are doing now is not working, it does not mean it will not work in
the future. Maybe you need to do something differently. Maybe you need
to ask for someone else's help. Maybe you need more information. Most
things in life worth having require work! For example, the only way to
heal your karma is to work at doing so! So if you will believe it, you
can achieve it!
*
Find Role Models:
For everyone who says that they cannot do
something... there is someone else out there doing it. Learn from these
role models. Find out what they believe that is empowering them to
succeed. Dare to ask questions! Most successful people love to share
what they know. Why? Because others helped them to get to where they
are and it is good karma to pay that kindness forward to you! Believe
it: it is true - successful people are real, actual people!
*
Lighten Up:
There is always a reason to smile. Find it.
Count your blessings. You are really lucky just to be alive. Life is
short: so make the most of this lifetime by living it. You are good
enough to achieve your dreams... that is why you have them to begin
with! Stop waiting to believe in things until you see them. For you
will only see things when you believe in them... with all your
heart!
"As a man thinketh in his heart so is he... All
that you accomplish or fail to accomplish with your life is the direct
result of your thoughts." (Allen)
If you want to live an empowered life, then you
will have to engage in empowered thinking! Part of "Empowered Living"
(EL) is practicing empowered thinking. Your thoughts are guided and
shaped by your beliefs. Here is how you
can practice empowered thinking:
*
Maintain a Positive Focus:
Every thought that you think and every word
that you speak is a command to the universe. Given this, only focus
on what you want to have happen. Above all, do not focus on what you
do not want. Remember that your thoughts and beliefs are what create
your reality. To maintain a positive focus, only think empowering
thoughts about what you want to have happen... as if it already has
happened! You literally cannot afford the luxury of a negative
thought.
*
Avoid a Negative Focus:
If you need an incentive to avoid a negative
focus, the terrible truth is that "what you fear you create." Thoughts
define what you want to create but emotions are the rocket fuel that
powers your creation. Negative focuses are almost always driven by
negative emotions and fear is one of the most powerful emotions. What
dispels fear is to define the worst possible thing could happen to you.
When you do, you will see that your defined fear is never as bad as the
"undefined, unknown fear" that creates a negative focus in your
thinking.
*
Meet Your Own (Not Other's) Expectations:
Never let others push you around. Never let
others tell you what to do or what you can have. Never conform to
other's expectations. Always follow your own dreams. You have just as
much right to do, be, or have what you want as anyone else has (as long
as it is ethical, moral, and legal). Only when you are meeting your own
expectations and are focused on developing your own creations can you
lead a truly empowered life.
*
Life is Fair:
Although it may not seem like life is fair, it
always is. If you do not like how you are now experiencing life, then I
guarantee that you have some "stinkin' thinkin'" you need to get rid of.
Test this for yourself: for anything you do not like, find something
good about it. Focus on that good thing to the exclusion of anything
else. Things will soon improve due to your positive thinking. When
you know that life is fair, your thinking has truly become empowered!
"A good plan violently executed today is far and
away better than a perfect plan tomorrow." (General George S. Patton)
If you want to live an empowered life, then you
will have to engage in empowered decision making! Part of "Empowered
Living" (EL) is decision making. Your decisions are shaped by your
thoughts and beliefs.
Here is how you can practice better decision
making:
*
Decide Relatively Quickly:
In business, most decisions take days to make.
If they take weeks or months to make, the decision is probably too late.
If they take minutes or seconds to make, the decision is probably too
early. If something is a good idea, it needs to still be a good idea
today, next week, next month, next year. When something is a good idea,
someone else will be acting on it... unless you do so first. So make
decisions relatively quickly: do not act because you feel rushed... act
because you feel excited, ready, and confident of your decision.
*
Solve Your Own Problems:
When you come up with your own solutions, you
will have a competitive edge. Yet be mindful of what your competitors
are doing so that you will avoid being limited to your own ideas. When
you commit to solving your own problems, you will make the best decisions.
By best, I mean those that you are the most comfortable with... and that
you can get behind and support with everything you have and are so that
you can be ultimately successful.
*
Continuously Improve:
When you are not growing, you are dying. Anything
that you are not actively managing is bound to go off course. If you
want to things to run smoothly, look closely at areas you have not
reviewed for awhile. This will keep problems from cropping up. When
you commit to continuous improvement, you will find that you automatically
make better decisions in the future.
*
Continuously Measure:
The only way that you will know you are
continuously improving is to constantly measure everything of
significance. Anything that is monitored and measured will improve.
This is so because what we focus our attention on expands and what
brings us joy will increase. The nature of the universe, fueled by
the forces of karma, is to continuously improve. So surf the waves
of karma to have an empowered life by better decision making.
"Think like a man of action and act like a man
of thought and you will manifest your dreams into reality!"
(Henri Bergson)
If you want to live an empowered life, then you
will have to engage in empowered actions! Part of "Empowered Living"
(EL) is action. Nothing happens in the physical world without ACTION
being undertaken.
Here is how you can take empowered actions:
*
Be the Creator in Your Universe:
When taking actions, you need to pay the most
attention to what you are doing. When you pay attention to competitors,
do so only to learn to become better at what you are doing. When you
pay attention to mentors, do so only to shorten your learning curve.
When you pay attention to others, rejoice in their success. Just
remember you are the creator of your universe -AND- you can only
create in the physical world when you take consistent, sustained,
empowered actions to manifest your dreams into reality.
*
Always Move Forward:
Never stop learning. Never stop improving.
Never stop doing something new. The moment you stop improving yourself
is the moment you start accepting your karma with complacency. Each and
every day, even in the smallest way, take a step closer to your dreams.
Be like the Japanese and practice the philosophy of Kaizen: "it is small
daily improvements which must eventually result in great future
advantages": one of which is empowered living.
*
Take it One a Day at a Time:
Be like the Romans who taught "all conditions
are temporary, except for change!" No matter how difficult your
situation is, you can get through it if you take it "one day at a time!"
Just focus on the present moment and do what needs to be done. Make
sure to do the right things and then do them right. As the Chinese
say, "The journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step!"
Only you can take that step and all of the other steps to follow.
*
Continually Expand Your Comfort Zone:
If you never expand your comfort zone, you will
always be a prisoner of your desire for safety, locked away by chains
of fear. What usually separates the rich from the poor is the
willingness of the rich to continually expand their comfort zone.
When someone wants to be rich, they have to learn so much and be
willing to grow and change. So do you want to improve your karma and
your finances? Expand your comfort zone!
